John G. Roche

John G. Roche is a publisher and private investor. He was a Partner of John Hay Whitney’s Whitcom Investment Company and Executive Vice President of Whitney Communications, publisher of the “New York Herald Tribune”, “The International Herald Tribune”, “Parade” and two dozen other highly respected newspapers and magazines.

Having been on the Board of Directors of the Film Society of Lincoln Center for several decades, John agreed to finance Return to Afghanistan, having less understanding of actual production than he thought he had. Horrified by Jawed Wassel’s senseless murder, he agreed to finish FireDancer and organized its Kabul World Premiere as a homage to an honorable and talented comrade.

Like Vida, John is proud of Return to Afghanistan.
